Satispay: what is it and how does it work?

Satispay is a free app for digital payment and online money transfer, which allows you to send money to friends and pay in stores via your smartphone. In addition, it provides a series of services like cashback, i.e. (as indicated on the app site itself) “a partial refund of a payment made via Satispay” credited directly to the user’s application after the payment is made”.

The application is owned by Satispay SpA, a company of the same name with its main office in Luxembourg. The creators are three young Italians: Alberto Dalmasso, Dario Brignone and Samuele Pinta. They noticed that several retailers kept refusing credit card payments, especially when it came to small amounts, thus forcing customers to use cash. In 2012 they decided to leave their jobs and devote themselves to the search for an alternative solution, from which both customers and retailers would benefit.

The Satispay app born in 2015 and it is available on any device. It allows you to make online payments as well as payments in all partner shops and businesses. In a few moments it allows you to purchase mobile phone top-ups, pay bills and taxes including your car and motorcycle related taxes. You can also send money to friends, for example to split a dinner bill. However, one of the most interesting services is Cashback. If a product or service is purchased at one of the affiliated stores, where applicable, a partial refund will be made which will be credited to the app at the end of the payment.

All you need to do is to download the app, enter your phone number and your IBAN code. This way the app will connect directly to your bank account and you will be able to make payments safely without getting out your credit card. As for the registration, you will have to have at hand, in addition to the IBAN, also the tax code and an identity card. Once the data has been entered, it will take 3 to 5 working days for Satispay to carry out all the necessary checks.

Satispay also provides a dedicated service, designed especially for retailers, associations and freelancers. It is called Satispay Business and it allows them to accept payments in a fast, safe, traceable and convenient way through the platform.
