The landscape of the European food industry is witnessing a significant shift with the establishment of a state-of-the-art logistics and production center in Pomigliano d’Arco, Naples. This industrial initiative is led by Murano, a prominent Italian player in the dried fruit sector, in collaboration with Baraclit, a construction firm from Arezzo known for its high-profile work with brands such as Prada and Aruba. The new site spans a 70,000 square meters, featuring a covered facility of 30,000 square meters designed to become a continental benchmark for operational excellence.
The objective of this expansion is to facilitate Murano in doubling its current output capacity while enhancing flexibility to meet rapid market changes. Sustainability is integrated into the structural design; through the Baraclit Best division, the facility’s roof will host a powerful photovoltaic array capable of generating 1.4 MW of renewable energy. This focus on green engineering ensures that the high-volume production remains environmentally conscious and energy-efficient.
Technologically, the hub is set to be a frontrunner in the Industry 4.0 era. It will incorporate artificial intelligence to monitor and optimize every phase of the manufacturing cycle. From the initial handling of raw materials to the delicate stages of sorting, processing, and final packaging, these smart systems are designed to maximize quality standards. By merging advanced prefabricated architecture with digital intelligence, the project redefines the standards for the modern food supply chain.
