Florence, Savio Firmino recognized as a historic brand of national interest

The Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has officially registered Savio Firmino, a historic luxury furniture company founded in 1941 in the heart of Florence’s artisan district.

Established in 1941 in the Santo Spirito neighborhood—an area renowned for its artisanal heritage—Savio Firmino originated from a tradition that dates back to the Renaissance, when workshops for woodcarvers, goldsmiths, and shoemakers thrived. Founded by Savio Firmino, an artisan from Friuli, the company continues to craft bespoke furniture and export Italian craftsmanship worldwide, preserving the skills and traditions of its master artisans.

Now in its fourth generation, Savio Firmino has received a significant honor: its inclusion in the Special Register of Historic Brands of National Interest. The Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy approved the registration request, stating, “The Office, having reviewed the submitted documentation and assessed the evidence of use provided, acknowledges the request and authorizes the brand’s registration in the special register for historic brands.”

This valuable recognition – commented Cosimo Savio, CEO of Savio Firminotestifies to our commitment to upholding high artisan values and traditions that represent a heritage of excellence for our country. We are proud to be included in the register, and this further validates the work we are doing”.

Established in 2019, the Register of Historic Brands of National Interest protects the industrial property of outstanding manufacturing companies that have historical ties to the national territory and enhances the visibility of Made in Italy worldwide. Only businesses with a registered trademark for over 50 years can apply. Accepted brands may use the logo “Historic Brand of National Interest” alongside their own for promotional and commercial purposes.

As of now, the Register includes 770 historic brands, 45 of which are from Tuscany, as recognized by the Italian Patent and Trademark Office. Savio Firmino stands out as one of the few companies in the furniture sector to receive this distinction, alongside globally renowned brands like Poltrona Frau, Cassina, and Minotti. In conjunction with this recognition, Savio Firmino has also joined the Association of Historic Brands of Italy, which promotes the strategic importance of Italy’s historic brands.
